AI visibility for service-area businesses

Short answerIf you travel to customers, set up your Google Business Profile as a service-area business, hide your home address if you don't serve customers there, and list the towns or postcodes you cover. Use the same service area wording on your website and other listings.

Steps

  1. In Google Business Profile, choose that you serve customers at their location and hide your address if it's your home.
  2. Add the areas you cover, using real towns, not a long list of every place you could theoretically visit.
  3. Create a page on your website for each main area and service, with real details such as typical jobs and response times.
  4. Add reviews that mention the type of job and area, where customers volunteer it.
  5. Keep phone number, name and areas identical everywhere.

Mistakes

  • Using a virtual office or someone else's address as a physical location.
  • Dozens of near-identical "town" pages with nothing unique.
