How to choose an AI visibility tool or agency
Short answerAsk what exactly they will check or change, how they handle your accounts, how they measure results and what they promise. Be wary of guaranteed rankings, secret methods, requests to own your accounts, and prices that don't say what's included. For a small local business, most of the value is in the basics.
Questions to ask
- What will you check, and will a person look at it or is it automated?
- What will you change, and will I approve it first?
- Whose name are the accounts in? (They should be yours, with manager access for them.)
- How will we know if it worked, and how often will you retest?
- What is the price, what does it include, and is there a contract?
Red flags
- A guaranteed position or timeframe.
- Buying reviews or mentions.
- Vague "proprietary" methods.
- No named company or number. UK companies should be easy to find on Companies House.
Tool or person?
Dashboards suit teams with the time to read them. If you just want to know what's wrong and have it fixed, a hand-done check is simpler. See free checkers vs a hand-done check, and our pricing.
