Short answerWork through these twenty points in order. Most are free and take minutes. If you can tick the first ten, you've covered the basics that matter most for Google, Maps and AI assistants.
Listings
- ☐ Google Business Profile claimed, verified and complete
- ☐ Bing Places listing live
- ☐ Apple Business Connect claimed
- ☐ Same name, address, phone and hours everywhere
- ☐ Holiday hours updated
Website
- ☐ No noindex or blanket Disallow blocking you
- ☐ Name, services, area and hours in plain text on the home page
- ☐ A page for each main service
- ☐ FAQ answering real customer questions
- ☐ Menu or prices as text, not only a PDF or photo
- ☐ Sitemap submitted to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools
Trust
- ☐ Recent genuine reviews, and replies to them
- ☐ About page with real details
- ☐ Company number or accreditation shown if you have one
Mentions
- ☐ Listed in relevant directories and trade bodies
- ☐ Social profiles with identical details
- ☐ Local press or partner mentions where genuine
Testing
- ☐ Asked ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity about you
- ☐ Recorded what was wrong and fixed the source
- ☐ Set a reminder to retest each month
