Bing Places: why it matters for ChatGPT and Copilot

Short answerBing Places is Microsoft's free business listing. It feeds Bing and Microsoft Copilot, and industry guides report that ChatGPT search sometimes uses Bing's index. If you have a Google Business Profile, Bing Places can import it, which makes this one of the quickest wins.

Steps

  1. Go to Bing Places for Business and sign in with a Microsoft account.
  2. Choose to import from your Google Business Profile, or add your business manually.
  3. Check that name, address, phone, hours and website match Google exactly.
  4. Verify the listing when Bing asks.
  5. Also add your site to Bing Webmaster Tools and submit your sitemap.

Why not just rely on Google?

Different assistants lean on different data. Microsoft's products and, reportedly, ChatGPT search draw on Bing. Having the same correct details in all three ecosystems reduces the chance of a wrong answer.
