What is AI visibility?

Short answerAI visibility is how easily AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity find your business, name it when people ask, and describe it correctly. It matters because more people now ask an assistant for a recommendation instead of scrolling through search results.

The three parts

We split it into three, and use them to score every business we check.

Found: does AI name you when someone asks for what you do nearby?
Trusted: are your hours, address, phone, prices and reviews correct and consistent?
Usable: can a customer go straight from the answer to calling, booking or ordering?

See how we score for the weights.

How it differs from SEO

SEO is about ranking in a list of search results. AI visibility is about being named, or described correctly, inside an answer. The foundations overlap heavily, and Google says its AI features rest on the same quality systems as normal search. Read AI visibility vs SEO vs GEO.

Can it be measured?

Not precisely. Answers change between assistants and between asks, and there is no official dashboard for ChatGPT. The honest way is to ask the same set of questions regularly and record what comes back. Try the five-minute test.

Questions people ask

Is AI visibility the same as being on page one of Google?

No. You can rank well in Google and still be missing from an AI answer, or the other way round. They overlap, but they aren't the same thing.

Do small businesses need it?

If customers ask AI who to use nearby, yes. A small business with complete, consistent details can be named alongside larger ones.
