How to fix wrong business information in AI answers
Short answerFix the source, not the answer. AI repeats what it finds, so find which listing or page has the wrong detail, correct it everywhere, and then use the assistant's feedback option to report the error. Then retest after a few weeks.
Steps
- Record the error with a screenshot, the question and the date.
- Check the cited source if the assistant shows one. Often it's a directory, an old page or a copied listing.
- Correct your own pages and listings: website, Google, Bing, Apple, Facebook and directories.
- Update or remove duplicates and old listings you control, or ask the site owner to correct them.
- Report the error using the thumbs-down or feedback option in the assistant. It may not change the answer immediately.
- Retest in a few weeks.
Why not just tell the AI?
Telling an assistant the right answer in a chat usually doesn't change what it says to other people.
Questions people ask
Can I contact OpenAI or Google to remove an error?
Each has feedback and, for some issues, reporting forms. They don't promise a specific change.
