How to make your website show up on ChatGPT
Short answerChatGPT can read public web pages when it searches, but only if crawlers can reach them. Don't block OAI-SearchBot or search crawlers, make sure your key facts are in plain text rather than behind scripts, get your site indexed in Google and Bing, and keep your details consistent across the web.
Checklist
- Allow crawling. See is your robots.txt blocking AI crawlers?
- Remove noindex from pages you want found.
- Put key facts in plain HTML text. Reports say OpenAI's crawlers don't run JavaScript, so content added by scripts may not be seen.
- Submit your sitemap to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. Bing's index is reportedly used by ChatGPT search at times.
- Add your listings: Google, Bing, Apple.
- Test: ask ChatGPT with your web address in the question and see what it reads back.
What there isn't
There is no submission form and no ChatGPT equivalent of Search Console. You can only make yourself easy to find, then check.
Questions people ask
Can ChatGPT check my website?
If you give it the address and it can browse, it can read public pages that crawlers are allowed to access.
How do I index my site in ChatGPT?
There is no direct index to submit to. Get indexed by search engines and don't block OpenAI's search crawler.
